STEM Learning Comes Alive Through Wishes for Teachers Grant in GEM

Thanks to the generous support of Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Charities, students in GEM are experiencing new and exciting opportunities in STEM learning. This project was made possible through a Wishes for Teachers grant, which awarded $2,500 to support classroom instruction through innovative resources.
The funding was used to purchase Hummingbird Kits with micro:bit, hands-on tools designed to introduce students to programming and robotics in an engaging and accessible way. These kits allow students to bring their ideas to life as they design, build, and code interactive creations.
The Hummingbird Kits spark joy and curiosity by transforming abstract coding concepts into meaningful, real-world applications. Students learn foundational programming skills while developing problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. By working with sensors, lights, motors, and code, learners gain confidence and excitement as they see their projects respond to their commands.
This grant has expanded access to high-quality STEM experiences and helped create a learning environment where students are active participants in their education. The impact of this support reaches beyond technology skills, encouraging perseverance, innovation, and a love of learning.
We are grateful to Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Charities for investing in our students and empowering teachers with resources that inspire curiosity and open doors to future opportunities in STEM.
